Drawing inspiration from the renowned French archaeologist André Parrot, who famously stated, "Every man has two homelands: his own and Syria," this application invites users to explore the rich and layered history of Syria. With over 13,000 years of continuous civilization, the country stands as a testament to human development and cultural endurance.
The app features more than 150 archaeological and ancient sites, offering a comprehensive glimpse into Syria’s storied past. Recognized as the cradle of civilization, Syria claims notable distinctions, including the oldest continually inhabited capital, Damascus, dating back to 9000 BC, and the oldest city, Aleppo, established around 8000 BC. It encompasses records such as the earliest known cave paintings at Djede al-Mughara (9000 BC), and the oldest cultivated seeds discovered at Tell Abu Hureyra (around 11,000 BC).
A significant highlight includes artifacts like the earliest depiction of Jesus at Dura-Europos (235 AD), and the first Christian king, King Abgar IX of Edessa (206 AD). The country is also home to pioneering institutions such as the School of Nisbis (circa 350 AD), and historically significant cultural markers like the first mention of a follower of Jesus being called Christian in Antioch during the 1st century AD.
